The History
In 2010, The Patterson Foundation, a private endowed foundation with an unfettered charter, launched publicly by sharing its vision and approach to philanthropy. Rather than having a grant cycle and focusing on a specific issue or geographic area, the foundation takes an innovative approach that strives to create new realities in philanthropy.
The Opportunity
The Patterson Foundation needed to communicate and explain its untraditional approach and connect with people in the philanthropic world. It was clear it would take a sharp, smart communications team to bring this to life. After a rigorous search, The Patterson Foundation choose MagnifyGOOD because of our entrepreneurial, strategic approach, passion for doing good and experience beyond the social sector. Our culture is well aligned with The Patterson Foundation, we are innovative and strategic.
The Solution
We began our work with The Patterson Foundation by facilitating a WhyGOOD session with their internal team. This process solidified their ambiguous approach and created a clear, strategic, agile plan for communicating with their audiences. We developed digital platforms that included a strong emphasis on social media, and a variety of blogs to capture the evolution and learnings of the foundation. Much of our work focused on developing internal systems and processes to magnify the foundation’s work. To ensure the success of our plan, we trained initiative consultants and partners on strategies and processes, armed everyone with talking points, and aligned their internal and external communications efforts. Our approach with The Patterson Foundation has been agile and iterative as the foundation has matured and evolved.
The GOOD
Through our work with The Patterson Foundation, we help build movements that raise awareness and mobilize communities around issues, such as the Legacy of Valor campaign. Legacy of Valor was a yearlong movement supported by The Patterson Foundation to recognize and honor the more than 100,000 veterans in Southwest Florida. Through more than 200 events and activities and 100 community partnerships, the movement generated a sense of camaraderie among the community and heightened awareness of veterans and their families leading up to the dedication of a Patriot Plaza, a first‐ever enhancement to a national cemetery that was fully funded by The Patterson Foundation.
We continue to help The Patterson Foundation create new realities and accelerate positive change by managing its strategic communications.
